The 2 day Sahara desert tour from Fes to Merzouga will start by leave Fes towards the desert crossing the Middle Atlas and passing through a beautiful national park, known for its cedar forest, where the famous monkeys are found. After a short stop we will continue our Fes desert tour until we reach the Ziz Valley that will lead us to Erfoud known for its fossils and for its magnificent views of the surroundings. In this area, several scenes of the famous movie "The Mummy" were filmed.
We will arrive to the Sahara desert concretely to Merzouga, Erg Chebbi dunes, the jewel of the desert of the sahara, due to its beautiful views and its immense orange dunes. Once here we will change our vehicle for dromedaries with which we will take a pleasant walk through the Erg Chebbi dunes until we reach the desert camp in the heart of the desert, where we will receive, according to the Sahara tradition, a Berber tea. Night at desert camp (Tent) under the shining stars.
Continuing our 2 days desert tour from Fes, today we will have the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience watching the sunrise over the sea of desert dunes. We will return by camels to Merzouga and after the breakfast and shower we will go back to the imperial city of Fes.
1. Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?
You won't need a sleeping bag on our Morocco tours as for the most part you'll be staying in 3-4 star hotels and our desert camp provides all the bedding you need including pillows and blankets. For your own personal comfort, you may wish to bring a sleeping bag liner to use at the desert camp.
2. How long is the camel trek in the Sahara?
We journey there by camel for an authentic Berber experience. The camel trek is about an hour and a half. If you prefer to walk then you can walk alongside our camel caravan but bear in mind that walking in sand can be tiring.
3. Is there another option if I do not want camel riding?
Yes, travellers who are not intrested in camel ride and want to spend night in the desert, we transfer them by 4WD to the desert camp.
4. What is the standard of hotels on your trips?
On our Signature product you'll be staying in a mix of 4 & 3 star modern hotels and traditional Moroccan riads. This gives you a chance to experience the local hospitality and stay in accommodation that reflects the character of Morocco. 5. Is Moroccan food suitable for vegetarians?
Vegetables feature prominently in Moroccan cuisine so vegetarians should have no issues. It's true that Moroccans like their meat but it's always accompanied by a delicious range of vegetables and grains. There's a huge variety of salads to choose from, soups can easily be made vegetarian-friendly on request and the ubiquitous tagine and couscous dishes come in vegetarian options too.
